FAQs

What is the LCR Grad Scheme?

The LCR Grad Scheme aims to connect a community of local graduate talent with SMEs across the Liverpool City Region (LCR). Funded by the European Social Fund, the scheme will ensure businesses have direct and streamlined access to graduates residing in the LCR, from all universities.

To put it simply, we’re streamlining your job search. Our team brings together local SMEs who are offering amazing roles, and we connect them with local grads, just like you. If successful, you will be part of our very first intake. You will get a graduate job with an SME and also join the LCR Grad Scheme Training Programme to prepare you for your future career.

Who is eligible for this?

The initiative is for final year students and recent graduates (<2 years post-graduation) who are willing to relocate to, or be currently based in, the Liverpool City Region Liverpool City Region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral). You must also be a British citizen, or have the status of indefinite leave to remain and work without restriction in the UK. You must also have the right to work in the UK.

If you are in another year of study but want to learn about the Grad Scheme, you are still very welcome to attend our attraction events.

What are the key dates?

We review applications and recruit on a rolling basis, so apply as soon as possible. Once you start your application process, you should aim to complete all steps within 48 hours and will receive reminders to do this via email.

Roles could start on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year, based on business needs of our SMEs. However, large scale induction dates for new starters are set as below:

  • January 2022
  • September 2022
  • September 2023

What sort of roles are available?

We advertise two streams, Marketing and Technical, with a general job description and person specification. Within the two streams, there are roles available in different industries.

Before the Assessment Centre, we will ask more about your preferred roles. If you pass the Assessment Centre, you will progress to a final round interview with a minimum of two companies. At the point of the final round interview, we will provide you with detailed job descriptions.

Who is behind this initiative?

The LCR Grad Scheme is brought to you by the University of Liverpool and is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
